"Knock it off!"

Continuing down the archives and the 'mistakes' I've made, this photo represents a different kind of misjudgement; To know when to quit.

There is a time and a place for everything. Sure, it's fun to use your camera like a machine gun, shooting at everything that moves, stands still, sleeps, or anything in sight. But personally? Well I've learned that I appreciate practising patience even more.

To shoot as little as possible keeps me on the edge, makes me focused and aware, and I imagine it's similar to fly fishing.

Standing in the river throwing your line in every direction looks fun, but to wait, watch and listen? To know where the fish will go next? To only make one throw? Knowing that if you do it right, it is all it takes? That is truly fulfilling. For a fisherman as well as a photographer.

The man in the picture is my friend Tomaz. The look he gives me needs no explanation and I use this image as one of my ‘memory card’. There is a time. There is a place. For everything.

- So just ‘...knock it off!’
