We were in California to shoot bags, trunks, and wallets for a Swedish manufacturer. The theme was simple and brilliant - “Carry only your essentials - in our bags and in your mind” - and we sought places that would inspire us first and foremost and then let the bags just come along on the ride.
“Unpack. Let go. Travel light, no flicker. No heavy load. Only the essentials. Like an emotional minimalist. There’s really no time for anything else.”
This is “The Avenue of the Giants”, going past Humboldt Redwoods State Park north of Myers Flat, CA, and it’s one of those few places where you feel insignificant - and indispensable - at the same time. You don’t raise your voice at a 1,800-year-old giant while their deep forest embraces you as one of them.
It’s love and forgiveness the way it should be.
