Once We Were Humans
Once, we were humans, capable of marvelous things.
Once, we were the screaming wild prophets of the lowland.
The unpolished artists of a universe we knew as ours.
We were lovers and poets.
We were rivers to the sea.
Once, we were runners, trackers, and warriors.
We were the keepers of God’s gift.
Of both life and death.
And everything in between.
Once, we were sisters and brothers, mothers and fathers.
We were hunters by night and collectors by dawn.
We were free, dreaming bravely.
Untouchable and limitless.
Once, we were humans.
Capable of marvelous things.
